AnotationJohn of Jenstein, the third archbishop of Prague (d. 1400), left behind an extensive literary corpus which is an important source for understanding not only the personality of its author, but also the literary, intellectual, and ecclesiastical history of the Bohemian Middle Ages. Despite their significance, a large part of Jenstein?s writings has not yet been edited or thoroughly studied. Therefore, the submitted project aims to systematically analyse and edit the books about theological and philosophical questions that are recorded on fol. 43ra?134rb of the socalled Jenstein?s codex, the main manuscript of the Jenstein?s literary works (Vat. Lat. 1122). It is a group of seven treatises dealing e. g. with the causes of the schism, the fear of death, the fragility of human existence, as well as with God's justice, humans? free will and their responsibility for sins. The expected results of the project will be a scholarly monograph containing the modern critical edition with an introductory study and (at least) five partial studies on selected issues of the edited texts.
