AnotationThere is no doubt that the teaching profession is one of the most psychologically demanding professions, especially at a time when the Czech education system is undergoing turbulent changes, such as the closure of schools during the Covid-19 pandemic or the promotion of inclusion in education. It is therefore very important that people in this profession are mentally resilient, as teachers are among those at high risk of burnout. As with other professions, an individual entering the profession should be aware of his/her strengths and weaknesses, have a realistic vision of his/her future profession and also have some motivation. An individual's focus, skills, motivation and qualifications constitute a career anchor. Career anchors were described in the 1980s by E. H. Schein (1990), which can be considered as a driving force in career development. Of course, it is possible that the career anchor does not correspond to the current job assignment and may be reoriented. Career anchors, therefore, have an impact on career satisfaction and engagement. Closely related to coping with the stresses of professional life (resilience) is mental well-being, i.e. psychological well-being, which in modern education is considered a condition for the functioning of the whole system. The psychologist Carol Ryff has devoted much attention to this concept; she defines it as a state in which an individual is well and thriving (Slezáčková, 2024). In professional discourse, the different areas of teachers' professional life have already been examined, but not in their interdependence. Therefore, this study will provide new insights on which to develop a system of support for teachers, as a school where mental well-being prevails is a place of support for students.
