Anotation | The constructivist approach to teaching is a trend of curricular changes in the education of primary and secondary school pupils in the Czech and global context and is also related to the change in the concept of the Matura examination. Reading comprehension of standard non-artistic texts cannot be developed separately, but with an interdisciplinary approach, through the development of pupils' transversal and (e)reading, digital, media strategies, competencies in everyday situations. International PISA surveys (2009, 2018), 2021 have repeatedly pointed out the below-average level of reading literacy in the generation of fifteen-year-old Czech boys. Pupils of secondary technical schools of mechanical engineering in the Moravian-Silesian and Zlin regions belong(according to PISA, PIAAC) to endangered groups in terms of their reading strategies level. They can search for information from various sources but lag in strategic data processing/evaluation. The project focuses on studying external/internal factors influencing the reader's understanding of non-artistic texts in pupils of secondary technical schools. The research team will use their professional, methodological competencies, experience in education, diagnostics, evaluation and the results of domestic/foreign research with a focus on reading/digital literacy. Qualitative (focus group method, content analysis of documents, semi-structured interviews) and quantitative methods(questionnaires, didactic test) will be used to analyse the comprehension of non-artistic texts. The research results will contribute to innovative (e)reading in the constructivist conception of secondary school teaching. The project aims to identify factors influencing the comprehension of texts of an everyday nature in a research group of secondary school students. The partial goal is to determine which non-artistic texts are popular with pupils and which non-artistic and other texts list schools/pupils among the recommended school reading. |
