Anotation | Parkinson's disease (PD) is one of the most common neurodegenerative diseases. The development and progression of this disease are closely related to genetic and environmental factors. Among the most important factors influencing PD is nutrition. The main goal of this project is to determine the effect of nutritional intervention in the form of education about the MIND diet in people at risk of Parkinson's disease or diagnosed with Parkinson's disease on selected parameters of health and nutritional status and quality of life. Project participants will be divided into 4 groups: 1) persons diagnosed with PD; 2) persons at risk of developing PD ? intervention group; 3) persons at risk of developing PD ? control group; 4) control group. Estimated number of probands in the group of people diagnosed with PD and in groups of people at risk of developing PD ? 40. Estimated number of probands in the control group ? 80. Estimated duration of the intervention ? 10 weeks. Each participant in the project will receive a first initial consultation at the Nutrition Counseling Centre. During the consultation, there will be a collection of food frequency questionnaires, a subjective assessment of the quality of life, measurement of blood pressure, measurement of hand grip strength, body circumferences, body composition, and examination of blood sugar, cholesterol, and uric acid levels. The research will take place in the Nutrition Counseling Center (Institute of Physiology and Pathophysiology, building INLEK (ZY) 173, part of the Prevention and Health Care Center of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ostrava). Examination of blood parameters will take place in the Sampling Center of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ostrava (Shared laboratories, building INLEK (ZY) 172, part of the Center for Prevention and Health Care of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ostrava). |
