Anotation | The project aims to analyse the contemporary phenomenon of digital, political and rhetorical populism. The research team will focus on exploring those topics which appear to intersect populism with information and communication technologies. The fields of research will tackle the description of causes of populism, rhetorical methods of populism, analysis of individual technologies as a medium for populism, political consequences of populism, or interpretative procedures that can be used to avoid populism as a reaction to short-term issues. These goals presuppose multidisciplinary approaches of the philosophy of historiography, political philosophy and theory, philosophy of technology, and philosophy of culture which interpret the political significance of popular culture. These interdisciplinary approaches will help to critically portray the concept of populism as a multi-layered semantic phenomenon through which a public opinion and contemporary political discourse is constituted. Since the project will last one year, the research team will inquire into the Czech context in particular. This decision defines the target group for research results - Czech scientific and public audience. |
