| Anotation | The collection Sermones de principalibus festis is one of few complex sources of sermons presented in the Czech lands before the mid-fourteenth century and showing a considerable original contribution of a domestic preacher. Simultaneously, it is a work of one of the most significant figures of medieval literature of Bohemian provenience, the third abbot of the Cistercian monastery in Zbraslav and the accomplisher of the Zbraslav Chronicle (Chronica Aulae regiae), Peter of Zittau. Since this work, despite its importance to the history preaching, literature and generally cultural life in the medieval Czech lands, has so far not been published, the submitted project proposes the preparation of a modern edition of the work and the writing of an accompanying introductory study, which would present the collection of sermons and place it into a wider context of its genesis. |
