| Anotation | In contemporary Czech literary criticism, the question of genre-status of the works of Old Czech literature is not reflected in detail and attention is not properly paid even to German, Anglo-American and Polish genological reserach activity. Ph.D. students in the process of writing of their theses regularly meet these problems and have to study numerous newer genological concepts, often during their study stays abroad. This project aims at summarizing various impulses of Czech and foreign genology and wants to use them during analyzing texts of old literature, mainly the Czech one, but also Slovak and Hungarian. The research work will be based on cooperation of Ph.D. students of Theory and history of Czech literature, Literary criticism ? theory and history of national literatures, Czech and Czechoslovak history and also M.A. students of Czech language and literature. In their doctoral essays, the students will offer to us concrete analyses of numerous genre areas and publication forms (hagiography, spiritual lyricism, historical song, homiletics, prayer, song books, broadside ballads, etc.). As a result of this project, two workshops will be organized and a collection of studies presenting theoretical and analytical results of the work will be published. The project is planned in such a way, that it will be possible to continue in it in the following years and that it should become a long-term research open to much more students than in the very beginning. |
