The Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music at the University of Ostrava announces a a job vacancy:

Job Title:

  • Associate Professor with a focus on painting or Assistant Professor with a focus on painting or Assistant with a focus on painting
  • Type of systematized position: Associate Professor / Assistant Professor / Assistant

Job Description:

(Assistant) Professors participate in teaching in bachelor's and master's degree programs (including opposing and supervising final theses). They actively engage in creative activities. Furthermore, (Assistant) Professors contribute to the third role of the university, particularly through the popularization of creative activities, administrative tasks related to their activities, and university self-governance. Assistants actively aim to obtain a third-level university education.

Associate Professors, in addition to the above, ensure teaching in doctoral study programs (including supervising and opposing final theses) and contribute to the development of these degree programs. They are supervisors in doctoral degree programs. They actively engage in creative activities, particularly by solving complex creative tasks of fundamental importance for the field, and are exceptionally active in artistic activities of national significance.

Specification of the International Research Profile of the Candidate:

  • R3 – Established / R2 – Recognized / R1 – First stage

Expected Workload:

  • 1.0 FTE

Qualifications and Other Requirements:

  • Orientation in the artistic field of painting, creative activity in the field
  • Required doctoral degree in the field of art or its current progress, or prospectively starting doctoral studies or habilitation proceedings by the year of commencement;
    for the position of Associate Professor, proof of appointment as Associate Professor (appointments outside the Czech Republic must be recognized according to applicable Czech regulations or related international agreements)
  • Czech language at C2 level
  • English language at B2 level

Expected Start Date:

  • From September 1, 2025, or as agreed

Language in which the Selection Procedure will be Conducted:

Selection Procedure:

The first round of the selection procedure will take place without the personal presence of the applicants by assessing the submitted materials by the selection committee.

The second round will be organized in the form of a personal interview with the selection committee.

The selection procedure for both positions in the Painting Studio 1 will take place on the same day before the same committee. If two applicants have a joint project for teaching the Painting Studio 1, they can present it together before the committee and the audience.

The Dean of the Faculty reserves the right to invite only selected applicants for a personal interview and also the right not to select any applicant. The Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Ostrava may also cancel or repeat the selection procedure.
