Annotation: | The course explains to doctoral students the process of preparing a professional text in English with emphasis on the specific organization and stylistics of scientific articles. Students will become familiar with the basic characteristics of the culture of academic writing in the English language and thus acquire academic literacy. They will practice the individual steps in the writing process at both macro and micro levels and learn key habits such as time management, setting goals for the paper and the writing process and understanding the needs and expectations of the target audience. They will also practice rhetorical techniques in formulating research questions and hypotheses, defining their own research and editing texts. Students will also learn to apply the practices of writing a professional article across other types of academic texts. Students will learn to use scientific English correctly and effectively not only at the level of the text, but also in the selection and implementation of various textual strategies and they will learn the ethical rules of academic writing in English. |
