Annotation: | The course, spread over four freely follow-up terms, is structured as a presentation of a wide range of short-term, informative, and inspiring excursions into non-artistic or non-painting fields (sociology, theory of culture, philosophy, some selected and narrowly focused parts of natural sciences, classical literature, and others) and teaching methods of practical use of these inspirations in students´ own creative work (drawing design). The emphasis here is on cultivating independent and independent author´s way of thinking, for which the area of artistic work provides extremely suitable conditions and to which it is inherently committed. This creates the unifying aspect of student´s explorations. In addition to the question of "what" and "how" the artist does, there is an emphasis on "why", a question after the meaning of artistic work in the context of a broader feeling of culture. At the same time, the orientation of creative search outside of one's own field is perceived as a complement to the traditional conception of theoretical studies in art schools usually focused on the aesthetics and history of one's own field. The course structure takes the form of a mosaic composed of small examples of numerous ways of thinking. These consist either of meetings with experts or presentations of research of specially focused literature. The motivational introduction to a number of topics is prepared in ten study support workbooks created by studio teachers and external collaborators. In addition to inspiring topics from the scientific field, the course also includes references to various marginal, subcultural, and specific approaches to creative activities, including, for example, designations such as "art in the raw state", "creation of scientific geeks" or hermeticism, which, due to their non-standard nature and distinctive methodology, go beyond the framework of serious scientific discourse. On the other hand, it but can be a source of inspiration for modern artists. In the practical part of the course, the student is encouraged to take comprehensive notes and sketches and his/her own short text and picture studies wandering into (partial and non-systematic) excursions to non-art (scientific) fields (author's journal). |
