Annotation: | Erosion constitutes one of the most significant global environmental problems we face today. In addition, assessments of sediment transport and potential changes of river morphology are important for sustainable management of river channels in densely inhabited areas. The main aims of the course is to present theoretical background of soil erosion and transport processes in stream channels including river morphodynamics and to provide a broad overview of possible modelling approaches in these topics. Up-to-date modelling software from each topic is presented and students do several practical exercises by using this software. Short field excursion demonstrates examples of soil erosion in the agriculture landscape and morphodynamics of meandering and gravel-bed rivers. |
