| Annotation: | The course of lectures gives a basic insight into the development of art in Central Europe in the Early Modern period with the emphasis on the distinctive features of Central European art and the lands of former Habsburg Empire. The course starts with the Renaissance art in Central Europe and on the selected artworks from the architecture, sculpture and paintings. After the Mannerist period with the focus on worldly known masterpieces of art on the court of Habsburg emperor Rudolf II the course continues to present art development in Early and High Baroque period with the focus on fundamental works of art in the territory of Central Europe. The course ends up by the turn of the 18th and the 19th centuries when after Rococo and Late Baroque period the Classicism was coming to dominate artistic practice. The objectives of the course are to make students familiar with Renaissance, Rococo and the Baroque art in Central Europe and to build appropriate art history context for the recognition and the appreciation of the artworks of this period. |
