Annotation:
This one-term course aims to get students acquainted with the current forms and functions of the chief British governmental, educational etc. institutions and the economic and social situation in the UK. Students study recommended materials and do background reading, both on their own and in class, where they discuss them. They also present short papers on selected topics dealing with British life and institutions, and during the subsequent discussion the situation in Britain is compared with that in the Czech Republic.
