The Dean of the Faculty of Science of the University of Ostrava announces a selection procedure to fill the following vacancies
- Junior researcher in the field of Human Geography and/or Local and Regional Development and Sustainability Transition – project "REFRESH – Research Excellence For Region Sustainability and High-tech Industries"
The above mentioned position is to be filled within the framework of the project „REFRESH – Research Excellence For Region Sustainability and High-tech Industries“, reg. no. CZ.10.3.01/00/22_003/0000048, Research Programme Social Lab 1 Governance of Sustainability Transition by a foreign or Czech researcher with good scientific results in the field of human geography and urban, local and regional development studies; and/or sustainability transition studies and governance on an international scale with a high contribution to this investigated research area. Deep knowledge and working skills in sub-areas of economic geography, spatial statistics, GIS and/or qualitative methods are preferred.

Job Description
- Researcher independently solves science-research tasks in the field of human geography and/or sustainability transition under the guidance of a senior researcher
- Publishes actively according to the requirements of the field
- Collaborates within the research team and with participating researchers
Qualifications and other requirements
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) or equivalent degree obtained more than 5 years ago. In the case of excellent results, the period after obtaining the Ph.D. degree may be reduced to 3 years (for Ph.D. degree obtained abroad, recognition of the foreign university degree will be required)
- EU research level: R2 - Recognized
- FORD 1,3,5: 3x Jimp if the PostDoc has 5 years of experience (excl. maternity/parental leave) from graduation no later than 2 years after Ph.D. defence. FORD6: min. 4 publications of type Jimp, Jsc, B, C, or D where the outputs are comparable to the international research level. Alternatively, 20 documented citations of own work
- H-index of the researcher min. 2 (FORD 1,3,5), 1 WOS/3 Scholar (FORD6). Alternatively, 20 documented citations of own works
- Documented involvement in projects of basic/applied/contractual research. Alternatively, international internships totalling 3 months
- Deep knowledge and working skills in sub-areas of economic geography, spatial statistics, GIS and/or qualitative methods are preferred
- Fluent English, comparable to Level B2, knowledge of other languages an advantage
- Independent, responsible and creative approach to work

- 3 vacancies 1,0 FTE

Wage conditions
- According to the Internal Wage Regulations of the University of Ostrava and for the Junior researcher I. in the REFRESH project, i.e. 1.0 FTE = 53 000 CZK before tax + bonuses for fulfilled tasks

The first round of the selection procedure will involve the assessment of the materials submitted by the candidates. Only selected candidates will be invited to take part in a second round of remote interviews. The Employer reserves the right to cancel the selection procedure or to decide not to accept any of the applications without giving reasons.
