The Dean of Faculty of Medicine University of Ostrava announces a selection procedure for position:
- Head of the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology and Professor or Associate Pfqurofessor specializing in physiology, pathological physiology
Expected start date:
- March 1, 2024 or by agreement
Expected type of contract:
- 100 %
Qualifications and other prerequisites:
- a university degree in a medical, non-medical health or science discipline;
- a doctorate in medicine, a non-medical health or a science;
- appointment as professor or associate professor in physiology, pathological physiology or a related field, recognized under the applicable regulations of the Czech Republic or related international treaties;
- at least 10 years of experience in the field;
- experience in a management function an advantage;
- active teaching and publishing activity;
- excellent organizational and management skills;
- knowledge of English language -B2;
- excellent knowledge of Czech language - C2;
- EU research level in the field: R3 - Established / R4 - Leading.

Job description:
The Head of the Department is responsible for the teaching staff at all levels of study (Bachelor, Master, Doctorate) and participates in their development. He/she is responsible for the direction and implementation of the department's research, grant activity and publication strategy. He/she is also responsible for the internationalization, promotion and presentation of the Department, including the popularization of the professional results.
Professor or Associate professor provides teaching in bachelor, master's and doctoral study programs (including leading and opposition final thesis) also participates on development of those study programs. He is a trainer in doctoral study programs. He is involved into creative activities (especially by solutions of difficult and development tasks with main importance for his field. He is also involved in publishing activities in reviewed magazines, eventually another way of publication according to requirements of his field and also with harmony of requirements standard creative activity on OU, security, management – coordinating projects basic/applied research. Associate professor provides financing resource, participate on scientific conferences and professional meetings, presents result in creative activity. Associate professor also participates on third role university mainly by popularization, creative activity, also participates on administration and management connected with performed activity and on autonomy of university.
