Annotation: | The course is to teach students to create new forms of digital art based on a digital collage on a PC. Not only from a technical point of view and putting it on par-on-par with hand painting, but also sensing more apt forms for some specific artistic statements. During the process of creating a work of art in a computer environment, the student masters the entire process from the acquisition of input data, through their modification in the program and preparation of the final output (digital printing, web output, printed template for further artistic processing). Advantages and limits of 2D graphics programs in the creation of a work of art will be displayed, examined, and verified during practical part of the course. There will be insights how to work with further photo editing, what possibilities of the digital image can be found, how to turn a digital template into the image itself. Students will learn how to use computer software as a full-fledged artistic tool by gradually working with the emblem, discussing, and consulting various stages of the work, e.g., the use of commonly known images from the history of reporting photography, working with clichés and propaganda photography with a shift in meaning, the use of paradox and deliberate psychological manipulation of the viewer in the sense of the final author's testimony etc. Teachers will guide the students into creating their own formal style. Looking into terms of content and formal content, ranging from the equivalent of hand painting or raw photography to the sprouting of generation testimony, social engagement and more ephemeral creation in digital thousands, objects, multimedia installations, without the right to permanent preservation in museum depositories or collections (though, new forms of artefact identity is slowly emerging and finding its fans?). The use of text as part of a work of art will not go amiss. Formal experiments such as abstract forms, conceptual procedures will be discussed at practical workshops, including analyses of works of art of this type. The ability to write a review of a viewed exhibition or selected artwork will be honed. How to create a gallery description for his/her own work or a comprehensive guide to the conceptual work provided the author considers it a necessary part of the exhibited work. |
