Annotation: | The aim of this course is to introduce the philosophical work of the Czech philosopher, theologian, writer and educational reformer Jan Amos Komenský (Ioannes Amos Comenius, John Amos Comenius), 1592-1670. In the lectures, we will focus on Comenius's biography, a general overview of his work and we will in detail discuss Comenius's philosophical development, his theological ideas, as well as his didactical suggestions. In the seminars, we will take a closer look at Comenius's texts in available English translations. |
