Annotation:	Students are introduced into a discipline from the range of social sciences which deals with the relationship between language and its use in society and with the impact of social changes on language. Students will be guided to apply theoretical concepts to specific linguistic material and their perception of distinct linguistic means of particular social groups will be emphasized as well as their capability of selecting appropriate linguistic means by register.
