Annotation: | The course provides a general overview of the development of modern American literature of the 20th century and follows the most distinct tendencies in American prose, poetry and drama up to the present. The aim of the course is to present modern American literature in its diversity and to contribute to understanding of its multicultural nature. For this reason the course focuses not only on the American literary mainstream but also on the literatures of ethnic minorities and the writers who have enriched literary canon just recently. The course develops students' interpretative skills. |
