Annotation: | English grammar in discourse 1 is taught and interpreted with the systemic-functional approach towards language and discourse. The aim is to explore the authentic spoken and written discourse so as to show how morphology contributes to the meaninng. Students will explore the terminology of modern English morphology on the background of systemic-functional and normative approach; students will also be made aware of theoretical concepts for functionally-oriented morphological analysis. Students will apply these aspects in authentic texts of varying tezt types and genres. Students will gain the knowledge of identifying and analyzing morphological forms and structured, and will learn how to use them appropriately in various types of communicative tasks and events. The course employs contrastive and comparative approach (confronting English and Czech). |
